My job makes me sick!

This is a common expression I hear from many. This job seriously makes me sick. it sucks.

All steaming from one source.  JOB.  And I know, in many cases, office culture, office colleagues, superiors and the management is responsible to create unhealthy work environment in the office. The staff feels utterly frustrated. Loose interest in work. Loose focus on the job. His/her efficiency and productivity gets affected. And organization suffers. Good , honest and sincere people also suffer. On the job, at home, in personal life, they show signs of frustrations, tensions, loss of interest in life, and in some cases depressions.

My suggestion?  Be objective. Don’t be emotional fool.

Are you trying to change the system? You expect people to change and behave in a manner you feel is right. But you dont realise, before you joined, many tried that and left. No one could change the system and attitudes of  people at large. So they deecided to quit.  Now its your turn.

I will never say, You quit. No. And also not advise, you stick to the job that makes you sad. Every day and day after day. But having said this, I also say, if it is a compulsion for you to accept such terms, then change your attitude. Do not accept any form of arrogance. Any form of slavery. Any form of threats. Humiliation or insults at the cost of your self respect.

What do you do then? Be bold. Be vocal. Draw a line to convey to others… this is the line I have drawn. Don’t take me for granted by crossing this line. And with this attitude, be prepared to face it boldly. I can tell you, when you show your nonacceptance of  unfairness, be it a boss or staff.  It gets noticed.  And the displeasure and discomfort should be conveyed in clear cut terms.

Many times, your boss and superiors are not really professionally competent. So they lack much needed confidence level.  They have their “Chamchas” around. These Chamchas must be treated with firmness in your tone and interactions.  Deal firmly, candidly and in straight manners  without fear of loosing your job. That should be last thing on your mind.  The first should be,  to STOP any harrasment, mental, emotional or otherwise on the job. You will see you will come out as a winner once you take a stand not to let anyone push you around.

Many times, job related mental tortures and harassment takes roots from our passive attitude. Keeping quiet allowing others to play with our sentiments and self respect. No one has the right to treat you badly. You must overcome of any hidden fear of any sort to deal with the situation firmly. No matter what and who the person is. In a civil society, respect of every individual is a constitutional right and on the job, it is a serious offense, if one is treated unfairly.

So, DO NOT become a victim of circumstances. You need to learn to brave this world and you will be the ultimate winner. Finally, work smart. Keep your enemies guessing. Keep your well wishers on your side with lots of good will.

That is working smart. Working your way up the ladder of success.
